Abstract

Measurements of the He I 388.8 nm radiation intensity emitted during He+ bombardment of solid Pb from back-scattered excited helium show a monotonic increase with incident energy (700-2000 eV). This is in contrast to the observed oscillatory yield of back-scattered He+ ions measured over the same energy range.
