Axial Rotation and Stellar Evolution.
Abstract
Some of the current ideas of stellar evolution are tested by using Arne Slettebak's homogeneous data on the rotational velocities of stars. The values of V sin i for stars not now on the main sequence are shown to be consistent with the idea that these stars were once main-sequence oblects but have moved into the giant and supergiant region of the , log Te plane b'- an evolutionary process. In icul , the data are entirely consistent with the evolutionary tracks c' mputed by M. Schwarzschild and his collaborators.
