Abstract

Criteria for indication of preventive surgical stabilisation were worked out on the basis of observations of 225 cases of mainly rheumatoid arthritis with occipitocervical manifestation.

CT has meanwhile become indispensable for assessing the local situation.

Prognosis must consider, inter alia, particularly the systemic inflammatory activity.

The procedure that is being followed to date in actual practice, is presented.

Zusammenfassung

Basierend auf Beobachtungen an 225 Fällen vorwiegend chronischer Polyarthritis mit occipito-cervicaler Manifestation wurden Kriterien für die Indikationsstellung zur präventiven operativen Stabilisierung erarbeitet.

Für die Beurteilung der lokalen Situation ist die Computertomographie inzwischen unentbehrlich geworden.

Die Prognose hat u.a. insbesondere die systemische Entzündungsaktivität zu berücksichtigen.

Das gegenwärtig geübte praktische Vorgehen wird vorgestellt.
