Die Dynamik der zellulären Hydratation

Der zelluläre Hydratationszustand ist keine statische Größe, sondern ist unter physiologischen Bedingungen ständigen Veränderungen unterworfen. Zwar existieren in nahezu allen bisher untersuchten Säugerzellen sehr effektive volumenregulatorische Mechanismen. Ihre Funktion besteht allerdings überwiegend darin, exzessiven Volumenveränderungen entgegenzuwirken. Die Osmolarität des Extrazellulärraums, physiologische Agonisten wie Aminosäuren und Hormone sowie Noxen führen zu nachhaltigen Änderungen des Zellvolumens, die ihrerseits sehr sensitiv verschiedene Stoffwechselwege und die Genexpression beeinflussen. Dieses grundlegende Regulationsprinzip wurde überwiegend an der Leber erarbeitet (Übersichten in [1] [2] [3]), gilt aber auch für eine Vielzahl anderer biologischer Systeme [4].
