Significance

Copper ferrite nanoparticles were prepared with a view to using them for the asymmetric hydrosilylation of ketones with polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS). Thus, the hydrosilylation of ketones with PMHS was carried out in the presence of copper ferrite nanoparticles and (S)-BINAP. After desilylation with TBAF, the corresponding chiral secondary alcohols were obtained in 32-85% yield with 33-99% ee (24 examples).
