The Guest Editor of this issue of Seminars in Neurology on The Neurological Complications of Medical Disease is Steven L. Lewis, M.D. Dr. Lewis is Professor and Associate Chairman of the Department of Neurological Sciences and Director of the Neurology Residency Program at the Rush University Medical Center. He is also a greatly admired leader and teacher in the American Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Lewis obtained a B.A. in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics from Yale University. He is a graduate of the Stanford University School of Medicine. He did his internship in Internal Medicine and his Neurology Residency at the University of Chicago. He is Board Certified in Neurology and has added qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology and Vascular Neurology.

Dr. Lewis is well known for his contributions to the American Academy of Neurology as Course Director and Faculty at the Annual Meeting, as Chair of the A.B. Baker Section of Neurologic Education, as a contributor to Continuum, and as a member of countless Committees. He is Section Co-Editor for Continuing Medical Education for the journal Neurology, and he is on the Editorial Board of Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology. He has also provided an incredible amount of service to the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is the Neurology Book Editor for the Medical Knowledge and Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP 13 and 14) for the American College of Physicians, and is the author of the book Field Guide to the Neurologic Examination.

We are very grateful to Dr. Lewis and to all of the contributors of this issue of Seminars in Neurology for providing us with their expertise as we care for patients on a daily basis with the neurological complications of medical disease.
