Case report
A 43-year-old woman was admitted to Osmangazi University Department of Orthopedia for bilateral femoral neck fracture. After review of systems, she was noted to have difficulty in walking, leg cramps, progressive tiredness, and lethargy of approximately 3 years duration. The embroyologic development of the thyroid and parathyroid is well known. Although the superior parathyroid glands originate in the epithelium of the dorsal portion of the fourth pharyngeal pouch, the inferior parathyroid glands originate from the epithelium of the dorsal portion of the third pharyngeal pouch.5
Related with embroyologic migration patterns, abnormal parathyroid tissues can occur in ectopic locations. Ectopic locations include the superior mediastinum, within the thymus and
