A power management unit for a battery assisted passive radio frequency identification tag is proposed. The key building block is a two-stage wake-up circuit with 23 nA sleep current and process, voltage, temperature insensitive wake-up detection performance. Wireless energy recycle is realised with up to 50 µA charge current. The circuits make it possbile to use tag package compatible thin-film batteries.
