An active acoustic touch panel interface is described that aims to detect and localise touch interactions using a minimal amount of surface preparation and hardware. Using a single transmitter and only one or two receivers, the position of a touch can be estimated by analysing the resulting changes to the frequency response of the surface. An outline of the signal processing applied is described, along with the results of initial experiments.
