Intensity of the carbonyl stretching modes in certain halogenocarbonyl derivatives of chromium, tungsten, manganese, rhenium and iron

Abstract

The infra-red absorption intensities of the metal-carbonyl stretching modes have been determined for the following species Mn(CO)5I, Mn(CO)5Br, Mn(CO)5Cl, Re(CO)5I, Re(CO)5Br, [Cr(CO)5I], [Cr(CO)5Br], [Cr(CO)5Cl], [W(CO)5I], [W(CO)5Br], [W(CO)5Cl], Fe(CO)4I2, [Mn(CO)4I2], [Mn(CO)4Br2], [Mn(CO)4IBr], [Mn(CO)4BrCl], Mn2(CO)8I2, Mn2(CO)8Br2, Mn2(CO)8Cl2, Cr(CO)6, Mo(CO)6 and W(CO)6. The spectra are discussed and some force constants have been calculated. The spectrum of di-iodotetracarbonyliron has been assigned.
