Half-sandwich pentamethylcyclopentadienyl oxo and alkoxo complexes of tantalum. Synthesis and characterisation of (η-C5Me5)Ta(O)Cl2

Abstract

(η-C5Me5)Ta(O)Cl2 has been isolated in 40% yield from the reaction of (η-C5Me5)TaCl2(PMe3)2 with carbon dioxide; the mono-alkoxides (η-C5Me5)TaCl3(OR)(R = Me, Et) and the oxo-bridged dimer [(η-C5Me5)TaCl3]2(O) are obtained by treatment of (η-C5Me5)TaCl4 with Me3SiOR (R = Me, Et) and (Me3Si)2O respectively.
