Three new xanthones and macluraxanthone from Rheedia benthamiana Pl. Triana (guttiferae)

Abstract

From the root-bark extract of Rheedia benthamiana Pl. Triana (guttiferae) macluraxanthone (1) and three new xanthones, rheediaxanthone A (10), B (2), and C (9) have been isolated and their structures established. The presence of the optically active dihydrofurano-xanthone (2) was established in the crude extract. 13C N.m.r. spectral data of the isolated xanthones and their derivatives are reported.
