Sulfuric acid-modified poly(vinylpyrrolidone) ((PVP–SO3H)HSO4): a new highly efficient, bio-degradable and reusable polymeric catalyst for the synthesis of acridinedione derivatives

Abstract

Sulfuric acid-modified poly(vinylpyrrolidone) ((PVP–SO3H)HSO4) was prepared as a new, highly efficient, bio-degradable and reusable polymeric catalyst for the one-pot multi component synthesis of acridinediones as an important class of heterocyclic compounds. All reactions completed in short times (20–90 minutes) and the desired products were obtained in good to excellent yields (90–95%). The catalyst was recovered and reused 7 times without any change in reactivity.
