Abstract
APART altogether from the importance of biology as a vocational study—biology for bread—upon which the Chelmsford Report laid emphasis (NATURE, Feb. 20, p. 257), there is the wider and more humane aspect of biology as an appreciation of the unity of living things, and therefore as the link between the individual and all his environment—biology for life.
