Energy of an Ion crossing a Low Dielectric Membrane: Solutions to Four Relevant Electrostatic Problems

Abstract

The influences on ion energy of membrane thickness, ion-pair formation, “pores” and “carriers” have been estimated. Only “pores” and “carriers” lower the energy barrier significantly.
