Abstract
Oxide systems supported by α-Al2O3 and MgO were studied in oxidative dimerization of methanol. The highest selectivity is exhibited by tin oxide promoted with Na2O and La2O3 supported by magnesium oxide. Reactions of partial oxidation and etherification of methanol and ethylene glycol proceed on this system to the same extent as dimerization of methanol to ethylene glycol.
