Abstract

An efficient method for solving the advection-diffusionequation for a distributed source is proposed, using the Fast Fourier Transform. The governingequations include deposition, gravitational settling, in situ decay andanisotropic diffusion. The model uses the Fickian formulation, neglecting the verticalvariation in wind and turbulence. Various local balances and far field decay laws arediscussed. The model is extended to secondary pollutants.
