Your glassy eyes sink like sandbags
And your voice –
Which used to echo around our home like thunderous strikes
Is reduced to a feeble whisper
As if you had to seek permission to speak

Despite the circumstances,
I will always remember you as the guiding sunbeam
Whose presence always demanded attention
Warming those around with your soothing embrace
