However, there is some evidence to support psychotherapy as an intervention for targeting conscious information processing for adults with PTSD through reduced conscious orienting to auditory distractors following Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (Lamprecht et al., 2004), and improved emotional downregulation through cognitive reappraisal (Fitzgerald et al., 2016). Robust pre-post intervention studies are required to investigate ERP response to specific pharmacological and psychotherapeutic intervention to derive targeted interventions to prevent or improve response to PTSD treatment.

Among the auditory oddball studies, the exception was a current source analysis of the P300 component that observed a significant inverse correlation between PTSS and the P300 current source density in the posterior cingulate gyrus (Bae et al., 2011).
