2022, Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular DiseasesCitation Excerpt :Studies have demonstrated that a single kilogram of body fat is associated with the onset of menarche age 13 days sooner [10,11]. Immediately after birth, most girls have more fat mass and less fat-free mass than boys; consequently, they have lower energy requirements [12,13]. Obesity has health consequences in childhood [14] and also it can lead to an increased risk of non-communicable diseases, such as hyperlipidemia, type2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular diseases at a younger age [15].
