Abstract

This paper firstly analyzes two movement detection schemes—eager cell switching scheme and lazy cell switching scheme. Then, aiming at their drawbacks, two improved solutions—region adjustment algorithm and improved region adjustment algorithm are proposed. In our solutions, the region is dynamically adjusted by current information of the link bandwidth in order to reduce the unnecessary increase in the movement detection delay. At last, analysis models are given to evaluate their performance. Numerical results show that our schemes outperform the ones in Mobile IP.
