Abstract
A novel catalytic procedure for the synthesis of polyamides (aramids) from aryl dichlorides, aryl diamines, and carbon monoxide has been developed. Palladium complexes incorporating bulky ligands, such as dippp (dippp=1,3-bis(diisopropylphosphino)propane), are suitable catalysts for the reaction. Polyamides exhibiting inherent viscosity between 0.10 and 0.40 dl g−1 were obtained.
