High-K bands and oblate-prolate coexistence in 134Nd

Abstract

Three bands consisting of dipole M1 and quadrupole E2 crossover transitions have been identified in 134Nd using the GASP array and the 110Pd(28Si, 4n) reaction at 130 MeV. Calculations with the projected shell model are used to assign configurations to the different bands and to infer their K-composition. The properties of the band built on the Iπ = 8 isomer confirm the previously assigned two-quasineutron [404]72+ ⊗ [514]92 configuration of the isomeric state. The other two bands are interpreted as coexisting prolate and oblate four-quasiparticle configurations.

Both the CDFT and PRM calculations were performed without pairing. PSM [15,51] has been successfully applied for studying the structure of high-spin states, such as tilted rotation in the A≈180 mass region [52], multi-quasiparticle configurations [53,54] and multiple dipole bands [55,56]. Angular-momentum projection is performed for each K configuration and the mixing among states with different K values is calculated by diagonalizing the shell model Hamiltonian in the projected basis.
