Adaptation of image cytometry methodology for DNA ploidy analysis of cervical epithelium samples: A pilot study
2014, Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and GynecologyCitation Excerpt :Adjuvant diagnostic methods such as colposcopy, detection, and molecular typing of HPV and DNA image cytometry (ICM) have also been proposed. DNA-ICM is being used as a complementary detective method in clinical analyses in more than 40 laboratories across the United States, Europe, and Asia [10]. Combining microscopy and digital image analysis the DNA-ICM technique evaluates the stoichiometric nuclear DNA staining post Feulgen staining [11].
Quantitative pathology in virtual microscopy: History, applications, perspectives
2013, Acta HistochemicaCitation Excerpt :With the development of flow cytometers working with fluorescent dyes and automated screening procedures, this aspect of quantitative pathology moved straight under the auspices of laboratory medicine. Nevertheless, the diagnostic support remained a topic for science in surgical pathology and automated computer workstations, especially after web based services such as the EuroQuant server had been established (Haroske et al., 1998b, 2000). Owing to sectioning artifacts in histological specimens, tissue samples were not too much the focus of quantitative DNA measurements until the 1980s.
