Abstract

With all the recent advances in contact lens technology there still exists a feeling of apprehension as to the effectiveness of prescribing a pure contact lens system to the presbyope. The present paper will review the development of those contact lens systems presently precribed with reference to the clinical advantages and disadvantages they offer.

Given the new range of hydrophilic bifocal and varifocal lenses now available the practical implications of whether such apprehension is still justified will be discussed
