Abstract

The postoperative course of 9 patients who have had autologous fascia-lata reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract is described. After six months there was clinical and investigatory evidence of progressive shrinkage and pulmonary regurgitation in 6 patients. After a year, right-heart enlargement and failure were common; 1 has had replacement of the fascial valve and 2 are awaiting it. The results are so disappointing that we no longer advise or use the operation.
