Effect of wall surface reaction on a methane-air premixed flame in narrow channels with different wall materials
2013, Proceedings of the Combustion InstituteCitation Excerpt :They measured the spatio-temporal flame structure, flame velocity and flame temperature in their oscillating flame with the aid of phase-locked OH-PLIF techniques. Cattolica and Schefer [19] investigated a lean hydrogen-air combustion boundary layer along a high-temperature platinum and quartz plates with OH-LIF and numerical analysis. They found that both surface oxidation and radical recombination play an important role in flame characteristics on the platinum surface.
Kinetic Models of C<inf>1</inf>-C<inf>4</inf> Alkane Oxidation as Applied to Processing of Hydrocarbon Gases: Principles, Approaches and Developments
2007, Advances in Chemical EngineeringCitation Excerpt :Simultaneously the efficiency of the evolving heat is increasing (Pfefferle, 1974, 1975). Direct measurements of active species, such as OH radicals (Cattolica and Schefer, 1982; Pfefferle et al., 1988, 1989) and O-atoms (Dyer et al., 1990; Pfefferle et al., 1989), demonstrated that depending on the conditions and properties of the surface, concentrations of such species in the gas can steadily decrease or pass through a maximum. If in the first case the process is likely localized on the surface or in near-surface gas layer, in the latter case we have a clear evidence for the chain process initiated by surface reaction.
