Monolithic III–V quantum dot lasers on silicon
2021, Frontiers of NanoscienceCitation Excerpt :This is because the emission wavelength of tunable lasers can be finely altered in a controlled manner, whilst the DFB lasers need a change in device structure for wavelength tuning. Currently available tunable lasers are commonly combined with distributed Bragg reflectors [121,122], micro-ring (MR) resonators [123] and coupled cavities [124,125]. However, they are limited by a large footprint, re-growth steps in fabrication and the use of a native substrate requiring a bonding process and hence additional cost.
