Enhancement of electrical signaling in neural networks on graphene films
2013, BiomaterialsCitation Excerpt :The results from morphological observation, calcium imaging and electrophysiological recordings suggest the formation of functional neural circuits on the graphene substrates. Especially, the appearance of PSCs, widely accepted index of neural network efficacy [25–27], provides clear evidence of functional synapse formation. Strikingly, neurons grown on graphene substrates displayed increased excitability and activity as evidenced by the enhanced spontaneous Ca2+ spikes, increased frequency of sPSCs and mPSCs, and the peak amplitude of sPSCs besides.
