2019, Ultrasound in Medicine and BiologyCitation Excerpt :Other factors influencing HCA development have been reported, including diabetes mellitus (insulin, glucagon). The mechanisms underlying hormone action are poorly understood, with the transformation of hepatocytes by hormone (steroid) receptors postulated but not proven (Cohen et al. 1998; Masood et al. 1992). The pathohistological diagnosis of hepatocellular adenoma relies on examination of biopsy or resection specimens stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E).
