Abstract

The kinetics of substitution of acido ligands in diacidodicyclopentadienyltitanium(IV) compounds have been investigated in acetone solutions. The observed pseudo first-order rate constants conform to the expression kobserved = k1 ÷ k2[X] where [X] is the concentration of the entering ligand. k2 varies significantly from one anion to another suggesting a rate process involving a nucleophilic attack. k1 is a sensitive function of the water content of the medium, apparently approaching zero at zero water content.
