2018, Computational ToxicologyCitation Excerpt :The US FDA has stated that the total concentration of antioxidants in edible oils should not exceed 0.02% (20 mg/L) [1]. BHT concentration in the adipose tissue of rats fed 0.5% (5 g/L) BHT-containing diets for up to 50 days was approximately 0.03 g/L in male rats and 0.045 g/L in female rats [31]. This indicates that consumption of edible oils containing 0.02% BHT for up to 50 days results in the accumulation of approximately 1.25 mg/L BHT.
