* Peter Sommer runs the London-based consultancy Virtual City Associates which provides investigatory, computer forensic and risk analysis services. Mr Sommer read law at Oxford and is a Member of the British Computer Society and the Institute of Professional Investigators. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Computer Security Research Centre at the London School of Economics. Under the pen-name Hugo Cornwall he is the author of The Hacker's Handbook, Data Theft, and The Industrial Espionage Handbook. This paper accompanied a presentation made at Compsec International 94 in October.
