Abstract

An integrated data administration facility called DASS that makes use of E-R modeling concepts is described. Its functional goals are a superset of that of a data dictionary. A combination of both pictorial and text data structures are used by DASS for communicating with the data administration staff. The different components of DASS as viewed in its present implementation are described. The underlying hierarchical menu system, the data design language, and edit facilities for textual and graphical data types are also described. A subset of DASS has been implemented using a Tektronix graphics terminal and a network-model based data base management system.
