Abstract

A simple combinatorial technique replaces the 2-adjugate (mod 2) technique for costruction of designs, given by M. N. Vartak and G. A. Patwardhan (J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 11 (1971), 11–26). The PBIB design with unequal block sizes, constructed in Vartak and Patwardhan (op. cit.), is seen to be a combination of PBIB designs with unequal block sizes.
