Some experimental progresses in the study of self-rewetting fluids for the SELENE experiment to be carried in the Thermal Platform 1 hardware
2013, Acta AstronauticaCitation Excerpt :Observation of the unusual behavior of the surface tension with temperature in these aqueous solutions of alcohols with high number of carbon atoms was first pointed out by Vochten et al. [1]. Limbourg-Fontaine and Legros investigated, in different studies, performed both in normal and low gravity conditions, convection in a binary aqueous solution of n-heptanol around the temperature corresponding to the surface tension minimum [2–5]. As pointed out in [6–15], thermophysical properties, like surface tension, wettability and thermal conductivity, at different temperatures, are of crucial importance not only for binary mixtures, but also for a number of ternary aqueous solutions with relatively low freezing point and for nanoparticles suspensions.
