2023, Progress in OceanographyInter-annual and spatial difference in hatch date and settlement date distribution and planktonic larval duration in yellow striped flounder Pseudopleuronectes herzensteini
2018, Journal of Sea ResearchCitation Excerpt :For the juvenile plaice Pleuronectes platessa, hatch-date distribution has been estimated using sagittae (Fox et al., 2007; Gunnarsson et al., 2010), but other studies reporting hatch-date distribution in juvenile flatfish using sagittae are absent. This is probably due to the formation of secondary primordia on the sagittae; and otolith microstructure analysis using lapilli, in which secondary primordia are not formed, is simpler in flatfish (Amara et al., 1994; Joh et al., 2009; Joh et al., 2013; May and Jenkins, 1992). For marbled flounder, daily age determination has been carried out throughout larval and juveniles stages with lapilli and date-selective mortality was detected (Joh et al., 2009).
