    The following chapter will focus on advancements concerning the aforementioned factors. Addition of complexing agents to alkali metal cations, such as crown ethers or cryptands (Scheme 10), was shown to drastically increase ethylene oxide propagation rate in ethereal solvents [8,26,27]. They allow reducing the aggregation of alkoxide polymer ends and increase the proportion of free ions.
