Abstract

A new on-line parameter-estimation procedure is reported which has potential for use with interrupted data and measurements subject to non-stationary ‘noise’. Based upon the stochastic sign-change criterion and parameter bounding, it has been tested on data records from an Escherichia coli fermentation. Results thus far show its ability to follow trends in the presence of imposed perturbations, and the robustness of the search routine employed.
