MRCI study on the spectroscopic parameters and molecular constants of the X 1Σ +, a 3Σ +, A 1Π and C 1Σ - electronic states of the SiO molecule
2012, Spectrochimica Acta - Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular SpectroscopyCitation Excerpt :The silicon monoxide, SiO, is a molecule of considerable astrophysical and atmospheric importance [1] since it occurs in a wide range of gaseous environments at temperatures up to about 10,000 K. To this day, the molecule has been identified in sunspots and in various stellar and interstellar sources, such as in the Orion nebula, the circumstellar atmospheres and the photospheres of cool stars [1–3]. In addition, in the low Earth atmosphere and the Earth ionosphere, the molecule is also involved in a multitude of reactions with the atmospherically most relevant species [3–6]. Its accurate spectroscopic parameters and molecular constants are essential in the applications in these relevant fields.
Identification and theoretical investigation of the SiO2+ dication
2010, Chemical Physics LettersCitation Excerpt :It is identified in sunspots and in various stellar and interstellar sources, such as in the Orion nebula, in circumstellar atmospheres and in the photospheres of cool stars [1–7]. In the low Earth atmosphere and the Earth ionosphere, it is involved in a multitude of reactions with the atmospherically most relevant species [8–14]. Therefore its singly or multiply positively charged ions, in case they are stable enough species, should be present in these media and should play a role in their chemistry.
