Abstract

Combined free and forced convective flow of a viscous incompressible fluid past a semi-infinite vertical plate is studied when the plate temperature varies as xn, where x is measured from the leading edge of the plate. Series solutions in powers of Gr/Re2 (Gr is the Grashof number and Re is the Reynolds number) are derived and the resulting similarity equations are solved numerically. The velocity and temperature functions are prescribed on graphs and the numerical values of f0″(0), f1″(0), { − θ0′(0)}, { − θ1′(0)} are listed in a table for different values of the Prandtl number Pr and the temperature exponent n. It is observed that an increase in n and Pr leads to an increase in the value of { − θ0′(0)}, { − θ1′(0)}, and a decrease in the value of f1″(0).

The flow of electric fluids in a pothole reaches a range of scientific and engineering domains in the presence of variable temperatures above, including earth science, nuclear engineering, and metallurgy. (Soundalgekar et al., 1988) raised the issue of mixed convection flow of non-compressed viscous fluid over an accelerating plate with a variable temperature. ( Hsieh et al., 1993) investigated non-uniform solutions of mixed convection from a vertical flat plate filled in porous medium in two local temperature conditions, variable wall temperature and flexible local temperature fluctuations in the form of force law.
