Dr Brinkhurst is Head of the Ocean Ecology Laboratory at the Institute of Ocean Sciences at Sidney, B.C., Canada, where he is responsible for Canadian West Coast Federal bio-oceanography. He is also an honorary professor in the University of Victoria and an Associate of the Royal Ontario Museum. He is well known for his researches on the taxonomy, evolution and ecology of marine and freshwater oligochaete worms.
