Abstract

Decoding schemes have been considered for making the decision on the basis of all the digits of a message received. In the present communication we consider the problem of decoding when only part of the transmitted message is received. An upper bound on the probability of decoding error for this case has been derived which as a special case includes the bound derived by Gallager (1965).
