Fabrication, modification and application of lipid nanotubes
2022, Chemistry and Physics of LipidsSensing a little friction
2022, Biophysical JournalSystematic measurements of interleaflet friction in supported bilayers
2022, Biophysical JournalCitation Excerpt :Interleaflet friction has been measured experimentally in model membranes. Estimates of the frictional coefficient have been determined from dynamics of pulling membrane tethers from giant vesicles (10,20), observations of vesicle shape fluctuations (21,22), diffusion of lipids in or vesicles adsorbed to supported lipid bilayers (23–25), and neutron-spin-echo measurements on bilayer stacks (26). Existing friction coefficients determined by the various methods span several orders of magnitude (see Table 1) and cannot be used to determine whether friction depends on lipid-molecule structure.
Changes in the properties of membrane tethers in response to HP1α depletion in MCF7 cells
2022, Biochemical and Biophysical Research CommunicationsNonlinear material and ionic transport through membrane nanotubes
2021, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta - BiomembranesCitation Excerpt :The nanotube puling could be replicated in vitro using either mechanical micromanipulators or optical tweezers [15–17]. The NTs pulled from pure lipid membranes have been widely used for quantitative assessment of visco-elastic properties of lipid bilayer and intricate relations between the molecular composition and curvature of the NT [11,16,18,19]. Decades-long studies revealed a variety of mechanisms controlling the NT curvature and thus the luminal permeability of the NT connectors [19,20].
