Qenching of fullerene triplets by stable nitroxide radicals

Abstract

The quenching behaviour of the triplets of C₆₀ and C₇₀ towards various nitroxide radicals has been investigated by the flash-photolysis technique. The quenching rate constants lie between 1.9 × 10⁹ and 3.7 × 10⁹ M⁻¹ s⁻¹. Possible quenching mechanisms are discussed.
