Perforation of the interventricular septum in a case of subacute bacterial endocarditis

Abstract

Perforation of the interventricular septum due to subacute bacterial endocarditis is a rare condition.1,2 Wilson3 reported three cases of mycotic aneurysm with perforation of the interventricular septum complicating subacute bacterial endocarditis. The purpose of this paper is to present a case of subacute bacterial endocarditis complicated by perforation of the interventricular septum diagnosed during life and confirmed at post-mortem examination.
