Combustion synthesis of bulk nanocrystalline iron alloys
2016, Progress in Natural Science: Materials InternationalStrengthening of a high strength Fe<inf>85</inf>Ni<inf>15</inf> alloy by tempering treatment
2013, Materials Science and Engineering ACitation Excerpt :Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) is a special method for fabricating metastable structured materials [12,13]. The Fe85Ni15 alloy used in this study was fabricated by this method as shown in the following equation and details of the processing were described elsewhere [12]. The chemical composition of the alloy detected by an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (Magix PW 2403) is given in Table 1.
Combustion synthesis of refractory and hard materials: A review
2013, International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard MaterialsCitation Excerpt :By the two techniques, a large variety of consolidated refractory and hard materials has been produced, which is reviewed as follows. By combustion synthesis casting from aluminothermic reactions (e.g. 2Al + Fe2O3 = 2Fe + Al2O3, 2Al + 3CuO = 3Cu + Al2O3) in a high-pressure Ar atmosphere, Yang et al. prepared a large diversity of bulk alloys [85–94], including Fe-based alloys, Cu-based alloys, and other alloys. Owing to the fast cooling and solidification in combustion synthesis melting, unique microstructures such as nanograins, quasicrystals, and amorphous structure were produced in the prepared alloys and offered the alloys interesting properties.
White cast iron with a nano-eutectic microstructure and high tensile strength and considerable ductility prepared by an aluminothermic reaction casting
2013, Materials Science and Engineering: ACitation Excerpt :Several methods were developed to solve the problem, but few of them were reported to successfully increase the ductility [9–13]. In the present work, high strength and considerable ductility have been successfully obtained in a white cast iron with nano-eutectic microstructure but without expensive alloying element [3,4,14]. Fabrication cost was low and thus its industrialization was possible.
Mechanical properties and dry-sliding tribological behavior of partially twinned Fe <inf>70</inf>Ni <inf>30</inf> alloy
2012, WearCitation Excerpt :Structure refinement is an effective way to improve the materials’ strength according to the classical Hall–Petch relation [1–4].
Synthesis of single-walled carbon nanotubes by chemical vapor deposition using sodium chloride support
2011, Physica E: Low-Dimensional Systems and NanostructuresCitation Excerpt :Iron is in great abundance as signified by the high peak at 2θ=45°. Iron carbide formed at 2θ=43° as a result of carbon dissolution and saturation in iron [28]. Its significance is elucidated in the succeeding brief description of the growth mechanism.
