Geomorphometry and terrain analysis: data, methods, platforms and applications
2022, Earth-Science ReviewsCitation Excerpt :Moreover, apart from visibility, the terrain critically influences surface energy transfers and transformations and impacts the quality and accuracy of remote sensing data. A large number of variables, such as solar radiation, land surface temperature and leaf area index parameters, have been proven to be highly affected by terrain relief (Florinsky and Kuryakova, 1996; Franklin, 2020; Van Leeuwen and Nieuwenhuis, 2010; Wen et al., 2018). Thus, it is worth noting that topographic characteristics should be emphasized when calculating surface parameters based on remote sensing data (He et al., 2019; Jin et al., 2017).
