2022, Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial PhysicsCitation Excerpt :NeQuick2 is one such model mainly designed for trans-ionospheric propagation applications which require climatological behavior of the ionosphere. NeQuick2 uses a set of semi-Epstein layers (Rawer, 1982) to calculate vertical electron density profile which is matched to the anchor points (peak densities and heights of E-layer, F1-layer, and F2-layer) in the ionosphere. These anchor points are modeled using experimental data such as CCIR (Committee Consultative for Ionospheric Radiowave) propagation factor (M(3000)F2) and the critical frequencies measured at different layers of the ionosphere: foE, foF1 and foF2 for E−, F1- and F2-layer, respectively.
Comparative studies of ionospheric models with GNSS and NavIC over the Indian longitudinal sector during geomagnetic activities
2020, Advances in Space ResearchCitation Excerpt :The NeQ is an upgraded version of the NeQuick model. This model uses a modified Di Giovanni and Radicella (DGR) profile formulation (Di Giovanni and Radicella, 1990) that consists of five semi-Epstein layers (Rawer, 1982) with modelled thickness parameters (Radicella and Zhang, 1995), for describing the ionospheric electron density from 90 km to the maximum height of the F2 layer. The model topside is represented by a semi-Epstein layer with a height-dependent thickness parameter that is determined empirically (Hochegger et al., 2000; Coisson et al., 2006).
TEC derived from some GPS stations in East African equatorial region and comparison with the TEC from NeQuick2 model
2017, Advances in Space ResearchCitation Excerpt :The bottom side region goes up to the F2-layer peak and it consists of a sum of five semi-Epstein layers. The topside region is described by means of a sixth semi-Epstein layer with a height-dependent thickness parameter (Radicella and Leitinger, 2001; Rawer, 1982).
