AChE as a spark in the Alzheimer's blaze – Antagonizing effect of a cyclized variant
2023, Ageing Research ReviewsCitation Excerpt :Due to the accumulation of oligomeric AChE from monomeric precursors, which post assemblage do not interconvert, the light AChE forms have been identified to be the biosynthetic precursors of G4 forms (García-Ayllón et al., 2011). Representation of a separate pool with distinctive physiological impact, in comparison to the prime cholinergic G4 forms is possible by the pool of monomers (Small et al., 1996; Grisaru et al., 1999). It is tedious to recognize a particular functional pool of G1 forms, that varies from the precursor pool as G1 forms are precursors of species with high molecular weight, and due to this they are always associated with G1 AChE forms (García-Ayllón et al., 2011).

2019, Ecotoxicology and Environmental SafetyCitation Excerpt :Cholinesterases (ChEs) are a group of enzymes responsible for the hydrolysis of carboxylic and choline esters. These enzymes are diverse in their structure, function, location in body tissues, activity, and sensitivity towards a series of chemicals (Small et al., 1996). Besides their physiological role, distinct cholinesterasic isoenzymes present specific characteristics, namely in terms of affinity towards substrates and inhibition by environmental contaminants (Pope and Brimijoin, 2018).
